We completed this order several weeks ago. The original photo was rather old and grainy. When working with old photos, it’s sometimes difficult to turn the photos into paintings because it’s difficult to see the intricate details of the photo.

The customer in this case wanted the painting done but with a few changes.

Here were the customer’s requests.

The first photo is how my in-laws should look in terms of where they stand and how their clothes look. My mother facial expression should match exactly like the first photo except her mouth should be close like the second photo. Also photo 2 is how I would like to have my father in-laws facial expression to look like.

The third photo was created by our Photoshop expert. We sent the Photoshop mock-up to our customer and they liked it. We started the painting, finished it, and the customer was ecstatic.

We received this unsolicited feedback in our inbox yesterday.

I just wanted to thank the company and especially the artist for doing such an amazing job on the picture of the dog. It was for a friend of mine whose dog had its leg amputated because of cancer and then the dog passed away because of the cancer weeks later. I gave her the painting yesterday and it brought tears of happiness to her face. She absolutely loved it and couldn’t believe how life-like it looked. You guys really brought happiness back to her and your artist is extremely gifted. I will absolutely use you guys in the future and recommend you to everyone. Thanks again for the painting as she will cherish it forever!

Here’s another example of our team working magic.

We received the two images below from a customer. Here was the customers exact request.

I have a request to combine two pictures into one portrait. The primary picture is of my two friends sitting in a military sidecar unit. The second picture is of their daughter who was not even born at the time the original picture was taken. Since my friends are sitting on the motorcycle seat, as if they were driving it, I think they would enjoy it if I incorporated their daughter into the portrait as if she were their passenger.

To facilitate requests like this, we have a photoshop person on staff to create mock-ups. The mock-up below was created and approved by the customer. Unfortunately, the photo of the girl wasn’t the highest quality, but our team was able to work with it.

The mock-up was presented to our artist, and our artist produced the beautiful 30″ x 36″ oil painting below.

Christmas is only 64 days away. It may sound like a long time, but it’s not if you want a custom portrait painting delivered by Christmas.

From start to finish, a custom oil painting normally takes 30 days to complete. During the holiday season, we prefer to receive orders at least 45 days in advance. If we receive your order on or before the week of November 9th, we can guarantee you’ll receive your painting before Christmas. Almost all orders received on the week of November 15th will be received on time, but we can’t offer a 100% guarantee.

If you order your painting between November 22nd and November 30th, it’s still possible to have it delivered by Christmas. It is only possible if you do not want the painting stretched.

We receive some very kind words from a customer we did a portrait for recently. We posted a picture of the painting on the blog and the customer posted the following comment…

This painting has turned out so much better than we could have imagined. After searching warehouses of paintings for something different, we thought… “Why can’t we find one painting that has a special meaning to us?” We were so tired of finding paintings of cafes, flowers, oceans and cats dressed like people… none of which had OUR story attached. This story… our 3 year old grandson Gabe searching for birds inside a knot hole in the side of an old barn.

We were worried about spending money for a painting, but Portrait Painting is very professional and delivers ON TIME. Thanks for helping us to make this memory a bit more permanent and easier to share.

This comment was posted by Judy – the grandmother of the boy in the picture.

Christina’s World, below, is one of his most famous paintings. He will be missed in the art world.

An interesting paragraph from his obituary in the Washington Post is below.

In the 1980s, Mr. Wyeth was the subject of an intense media spotlight for his “Helga” series of 45 paintings and 200 sketches. These pictures, many of them nudes, were the product of hundreds of modeling sessions with a Chadds Ford neighbor, Helga Testorf, over a 15-year period. No one else, not even Mr. Wyeth’s wife, had previously known about them, and their disclosure to the public was arguably the art event of the decade.

In two weeks, the United States will choose a new president. A new administration means new cabinet members and new political appointees. Many outgoing members of the current administration want an official portrait painted – it’s a tradition that dates back to the beginning of our country.

Unfortunately, a painted portrait can cost upwards of $50,000 – a cost that taxpayers have to pick up. The Washington Post wrote an article about this practice.

Some artists doing these portraits still demand sittings that can total 30 hours.

Our portrait artists can paint a beautiful portrait from just one photo. You don’t need to spend $50k to be immortalized in a portrait painting.
